Overseas/International Student

Tier 4 Student visa is a point-based system introduced by the UK Government for better immigration control. To obtain a student visa under Tier 4, a student must score 40 points. A valid Certificate of Acceptance of Study (CAS), formerly known as visa letter from a licensed college, carries 30 points and the student’s financial status carries 10 points.

Step 1: Submitting application

In order to enrol at NLCBS College, applicants are required to apply by completing an application form. The application form can either be downloaded from the web site or collected from the Admission Office of the college. Completed application form must be signed and submitted with the appropriate tuition fees and the copies of the following documents:

* Copy of valid passport
* Evidence of academic/training certificates and transcripts
* Two passport size photos
* Proof of English Language proficiency (for international students only)

Application form can be sent by email at info@nlcbs.co.uk or by post to the following address.

Please note carefully: International students are advised to verify their local representatives with NLCBS.

Step 2: Assessment of the Application

Based on the documents provided, the applicant is assessed and if found suitable, the college may make an offer or suggest an alternative course for the applicant.

Step 3: Issuing Certificate of Acceptance of Study (CAS), formerly visa letter

Once the assessment is completed and appropriate tuition fee is received, CAS is issued and sent to the applicant along with the receipt of payment.

The CAS includes student’s personal details, details and the basis of the course offered, start and end date of the course and the total amount of fees paid. A unique CAS number is issued and is used as a reference for any further communication.

Step 4: Applying for student visa

In order to obtain the student visa, the student will need to complete the relevant visa application form with all the necessary information (e.g. CAS reference) and submit the application at the nearest British High Commission. The applicant must fulfil all other requirements such as proof of funds for tuition and living costs in the UK. In some cases a medical certificate may be required.

CAS counts for 30 points towards the 40 points.

Proof of finance

On top of one academic year tuition fee, applicant is required to provide appropriate evidence of having £7,200 (yearly estimated living cost in London) or equivalent in the local currency in personal or joint bank account. The proof of funds will count for 10 points towards the 40 points requirement.

Students are advised to contact the local British High Commission, UKBA or British Council for visa advice at www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk

Wish you best of luck with your application!
